Hi, my name is Frederik.
I am a biologist by training and my normal day job usually revolves around nature conservation projects, innovation projects within biodiversity, and consulting on these topics. In my time off I have found solace in various hobbies which allow for more creative endeavours. Whether it is photographing, printing and framing or building something more or less useful in small DIY projects.
Recently I have put more effort into building stuff, and in specific refurnishing old furniture pieces, with the aim of selling them. I would refurnish for myself, but my small appartment does not allow much space to be allocated for furniture projects and in my experience it is a good idea to at least attempt to keep the costs down when it comes to your hobbies.
Recently my lovely girlfriend has convinced me to document my process from finding furniture on the side of the road, in a thrift store or on Facebook marketplace to designing, repairing and replacing broken parts, sanding, painting and adding finish.
I feel grateful for being able to breath new life into discarded furniture pieces and to explore my own creativity.
