When renovating furniture, I attempt to keep as much as possible original and to replace whatever needs to be replaced with original parts. When renovating I consider the original expression of the furniture and the original finish to get as close as possible to what the designer had originally meant to do. I will most often renovate classical design pieces as it will be possible to investigate the original expression and this will generally also retain the most value of the pieces in question.
